EYE TEST DEVICE: TRAFFIC SECTION

Notice is hereby given that the eye test device to make appointments for learners and drivers licenses is currently out of order. As a result, no appointments can be made for learner -and driver’s license tests  as well as the renewal of driver license cards and PRDPs.

The public is advised to contact the Traffic Department at Tel. No. 023-414 8159 and to enquire whether the device is operational before visiting the office, especially those people from outside Beaufort West. The Traffic Department can only issue temporary driving licenses at present. The public is also encouraged to apply for a new driver license card at least one (1) month before their driving license expires.

The public is also reminded of the office hours during which the public is served. The public is only served between 08: 00-12: 00 Mondays and Fridays, and from 13: 45-15: 00 Monday to Friday.

The Beaufort West Local Council accepted a decision on 29 May 2018 to make the township known as Sidesaviwa’s name formal to Kwa-Mandlenkosi by application to the South African National Geographic Names Council. 

All members of the Community are hereby informed that various meetings with the community will be held by the Council in this regard. Full details of the proposed community meetings will be advertised and disseminated in the local press and community over time.

Beaufort West Municipality Council has taken a resolution to close all libraries to the public to curb the spread of corona virus.

Beaufort West libraries and the surrounding areas will be closed for the public from Monday, 4 January 2021 till further notice. Members of the public can return library material and placed them in boxes that will be placed in all libraries. No issuing of library material will be conducted. No fines will be incurred for this period.

Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 4(3)(a) of the By-Law Relating to the Management and Administration of the Municipality’s Immovable Property that the Local Council intends to lease a portion of erf 249 Murraysburg, measuring approximately 1 ha to Mr. Isak Goeieman at a monthly rental of R360.00 (Excluding Vat) per month for a period of nine (9) years and eleven (11) months for the exclusive purpose of manufacturing of compost and the planting of olive trees.

Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 46(1) of the By-Law relating to Water Supply, Notice 148/2005 that the Municipality will impose the following additional water restrictions for Beaufort West with effect from 1 DECEMBER 2025:-

1.1 That with regards to Beaufort West, phase 3 water restrictions be implemented with effect from 1 December 2025, provided that if a drastic decline of the water levels of boreholes are experienced, water restrictions will be revised.

1.2     That phase 3 water tariffs with regards to water restrictions, stipulated in the 2025/2026 tariff schedules will be applicable from 1 December 2025. 

1.3     That the following additional water restrictions be imposed from 1 December 2025:

1.3.1 That a complete prohibition will apply to the use of hosepipes in Beaufort West for the watering of gardens, wash of cars, filling of pools and or dams or any other such purpose that requires a hosepipe to be connected to the municipal water supply system.

1.3.2  That all residents whom are using water from boreholes, must put up applicable signage at their premises indicating the use of borehole water.
